Rubens Fogacci
That something that “is”, “has been” or “is about to be”.
Having established the necessary distance with respect to some given critical positions, characterized by somewhat superficial readings of the complex of Rubens Fogacci’s work, it seems right to emphasize, in the expressive research of the same, rather the aptitude to revisit, in a completely personal way, certain iconographic references belonging to expressive fields expanded over time and sometimes even heterogeneous from a purely conceptual point of view. Therefore, from the fairytale aura or, worse, from the supposed comic appearance (indicated in a obviously distorted relationship compared to American Pop Art), with which, in the past, it was hastily – in fact – circumscribed on the contrary, expressive horizons are more original and fruitful, inhabited by imaginative visions held by the artist as a pretext to visually translate a reality suspended between something that “is”, “has been” or “is on the verge of being”. As usual, Fogacci sets, paints and finally characterizes, with reflections now memorial now fantastic, his own, evocative virtual theater, in which Munch’s late nineteenth-century ghosts can legitimately coexist alongside the mythical characters of Lichtenstein. Calvino would not have minded a painter so clearly oriented towards the unconscious perception – you would even say some remote and justified probability – of arcane as well as invisible events. Affirm, then, above all this: the narrative inclination of Fogacci, which stands out in and beyond his imaginary universe, in which color spreads like the tone of a seductive voice that echoes in the air. A voice that tells, intrigues, fascinates. A voice that has, among others, the merit of expressing a sense of amazement and of always remaining deeply authentic.
